At Tecnológico de Monterrey, the official learning platform (LMS) is CANVAS.

Almost all the Training Units (UF) are already designed with a specific structure and content.

To make adjustments, you can access the Canvas Instructure Community which has a wealth of resources to answer most of your questions.

eLumen

ELUMEN AND THE EVALUATION IN CANVAS

Once you've been assigned to a group, your copy of the Canvas Training Unit will automatically be created and visible to you in the courses section.

When you have your copy, the evidence may or may not be visible, depending on how the design from which it was copied was made.

Preloaded evidence you can see and link directly

Preloaded evidenceyou can't see but can link

Once you have linked Canvas and eLumen, a window of this type will be displayed:

Así se verá la ventana de eLumen en Canvas

You must conduct the evaluation depending on the number of evaluators (teachers who grade) in the Formation Unit.

Evaluation with one grader (one professor)

Evaluation with two or more evaluators (two or more professors)

The first time your students log in to eLumen, an authorization window will appear requesting access to their account, similar to this:

Ventana de mensaje autorización de primera vez

Esto quiere decir que elumen necesita un permiso para realizar la sincronización entre Canvas y eLumen. Sólo es necesario dar clic en el botón de Autorizar.

Este mensaje solo aparece una vez

This means that elumen needs permission to sync between Canvas and eLumen. It is only necessary to click on the Authorize button.

This message only appears once.

The evidence of the students must be stored in eLumen since they demonstrate the achievement of the level of performance reached throughout their career and are associated with the sub-competences. The evidence will be recorded in your portfolio regardless of whether the training unit is no longer active.

The assessment name is the name of the evaluation criteria table; this name will remain in eLumen. The activity name is the name of the evaluation criteria table that will be visible to the teacher when associating the evidence in Canvas.

Evaluación TEC21

EVALUATING IN THE TEC21 MODEL

Competence-based education gives priority to the integral formation of the student so that, with an ethical and civic commitment, he undertakes, contributes and solves the problems of the global and local environment in a sustainable way.

There are two assessment plans you should consider:

  1. The evaluation plan on the cover or home page of your Formation Unit in Canvas describes the weighting that will be given to each of the activities, practices, evidence, Etc. that make up the entire course. This evaluation plan must be visible to the student from the beginning of the course. In addition, if you consider making modifications per your school's policies, they must be integrated from the beginning of the course.
  2. The Canvas evaluation plan appears in the left column, which is the ratio the platform must consider to calculate the student's final grade. It is based on the weight assigned in point 1 but must be created in CANVAS. It is part of the content of the TEC21 Competency Assessment course.

The CANVAS Evaluation Plan is the tool through which the final grades of a UF training unit are reported in the TEC21 model, so you must prepare the evaluation plan for each group you teach. Again, TEDU offers site with guides and videos  on this subject at your disposal.

The rubrics are the evaluation instruments that measure the performance and achievement of the transversal and disciplinary sub-competences the student shows in the evidence he presents.

You can visit the Formation Units Subcompetencies rubrics visualization Dashboard

In order to evaluate, it is essential to consider the relationship between the type of product or evidence and the instrument through which it is to be evaluated.

To know more about this relationship press this link

In the Tec21 Assessment Model, feedback is an aspect that guides the learning process and the development of competencies. Therefore it must offer valuable information that enriches the student in that objective. There is more to say than if something is right or wrong. Explaining why is that way promotes more learning than only assigning a grade.

ECOA

WHAT DOES MY TEACHER EVALUATION CONSIST OF?

The Student Opinion Survey (ECOA) is a feedback tool of our teaching practice that guides us in implementing improvements to our teaching didactics. To review your results, we share this guíde.
